The 68th Inaugural Lecture of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, was a landmark event celebrating scholarship, innovation, and societal service. The lecture was delivered by Professor Lukuman Adekilekun Jimoda, Special Adviser to the Governor of Osun State on Mining and Mineral Resources, and a renowned scholar in Chemical and Environmental Engineering.

The lecture, titled โ€œUnraveling Tropospheric Pollution: Chemical Engineering Insights into Coupled Monitoring, Nonlinear Modeling, and Sustainable Mitigation Pathways,โ€ offered groundbreaking perspectives on air pollution challenges in urban Nigeria and presented sustainable mitigation strategies through the lens of chemical engineering. It highlighted Professor Jimodaโ€™s decades-long research on air, water, waste, and noise pollution, showcasing practical applications such as bio-coagulants, circular economy initiatives, and emission modeling for healthier urban environments.

Professor Jimoda traced his academic journey from primary and secondary education in Ede, Osun State, through Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, where he earned B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering. His extensive mentorship by eminent scholars such as Prof. Toks Oshinowo, Prof. Funsho Alaba Akeredolu, and Prof. Jacob Ademola Sonibare shaped his career, leading to pioneering work in environmental monitoring, emission inventories, and sustainable urban solutions.

Over the years, Professor Jimoda has contributed to over 85 publications, supervised numerous undergraduate, M.Tech., and Ph.D. students, and provided consultancy to industries and governmental panels, particularly the Federal Ministry of Environment, Abuja.
